Guide | SpecOps, First Time Setup: How to Setup your Secondary Authentication methods

This guide will take you, step by step, through the SpecOps Enrollment process, with video examples. You can either choose to read the below steps, or the full length video guide found at the bottom of this page.

 

  1. To be permitted to change your password, and be verified for contact with IT, you will need to first enroll into the self-service password reset service. To do this, open your windows search, and type “Enroll for Password Reset”
    • If you do not see the "Enroll for Password Reset" option, please contact IT to resolve this. 




       
  2. When you click on the enroll option, this will open a web browser page with a sign in window, enter your username only!
    • (For example, if you email is [email protected] your username would be "ebruce")
    • You will also be asked to enter your password; this will be your current device login password, the long one

  3. Once logged in, you will see an “Enroll” page. This will require you to use your phone.

  5. There may be various authentication options Click on the icons below to find download links for these applications on google and apple phones
    • Microsoft Authenticator
    • Google Authenticator

  7. You will be required to have multiple authentication methods, these can consist of.
    • Mobile Phone Number Code
    • Physical YubiKey Authentication Key (Requested by your manager, if you require one)
    • A Microsoft and/or Google Authenticator code
       
  8. At least two of these options must be be setup, we recommend a Mobile Code and Microsoft or Google Authenticator applications.
     
  9. Each authentication option gives you an additional amount of stars, the number of stars required to verify your identity will depend on how secure of an operation you are attempting to accomplish. The more stars, the better secured you will be.
     
  10. When you select a setup option, a guide will appear with instructions on the individual steps each method requires to setup.
